Our paper Simopticon: Automated Optimization of Vehicular Platooning Controllers has been accepted for an upcoming issue of Elsevier Ad Hoc Networks.
In this paper, we present a comprehensive methodology for fully automatic platooning controller parameter selection. Our approach leverages state-of-the art microscopic simulators driven by an optimizer. We delve into the trade-offs between various optimization algorithms and reveal untapped potentials in controller parameterization compared to commonly employed default values. We also discuss our open-source reference implementation of this methodology for further research.
