Project Description:
Notice traffic blocks before they are visible. Recognise risky situations before they get out of hand. Reach your destination fast, safe and relaxed. This vision of safe and intelligent mobility motivates our research project sim^TD^. The vision can be made real with the help of electronically connected vehicles and infrastructure: car-to-x communication.
The sim^TD^ test field is located in the Frankfurt-Rhine-Main area of Hesse. With up to 400 vehicles and more than 100 ITS Roadside Stations installed by the Hessian traffic centre (VZH) and the Integrated Traffic Management Center Frankfurt (IGLZ), car-to-x communication will be tested under real conditions.
Audi AG is working with the Computer Networks and Communication Systems group in two areas:
- IT-security of sim^TD^:
This topic covers the provision of integrity, authenticity, confidentiality and privacy during and after the use of sim^TD^ applications. The questions are addressed by a conceptual architecture and specific solutions, which can be mapped to the envisioned applications. - Simulative exploration of system parameters:
This topic covers the identification of candidate system parameters, a partial implementation of relevant sim^TD^ applications, and the simulative exploration of these parameters to derive optimal settings. Based on these studies, the applicability of sim^TD^ applications can be evaluated, software optimized, and field trials parameterized.
