In modern simulation studies, different simulators are often specialized to handle specific aspects of complex systems, such as network protocols, mobility, or environmental interactions. However, when these simulators operate independently, important insights may be missed. By coupling multiple simulators, researchers can achieve more comprehensive simulations, combining the strengths of each tool to generate richer, more accurate results.
The High Level Architecture (HLA) is an IEEE standard that provides a flexible framework for integrating simulators in a distributed environment. An HLA-based co-simulation framework allows researchers to model and analyze complex systems more effectively and conduct detailed performance evaluations.
This thesis aims to explore and implement simulator coupling using an HLA-based co-simulation framework.
Goals of the thesis
The primary objective of this thesis is to establish a seamless integration between two existing simulators using an HLA-based co-simulation framework and evaluation of run-time performances.
