The ns-3 simulator and the OMNeT++ INET simulation framework are two of the most widely used simulation frameworks for simulating WLAN systems operating in OCB (Outside the Context of a BSS) mode. Qualitatively, both frameworks have been shown to be capable of simulating WLAN systems in OCB mode and ample literature exists that details qualitative differences between the two frameworks. However, there is little literature quantitatively comparing the two frameworks in this context.
Goals of the thesis
This thesis will compare the ns-3 and INET simulation frameworks in the context of simulating WLAN systems operating in OCB mode. Depending on the breadth and scope of the thesis, this comparison may be extended to other simulation frameworks like Veins.
Requirements
- Experience with IEEE 802.11 and OMNeT++
