Interactive visualizations are a key tool for understanding and analyzing simulation results. In the context of wireless network simulations, such visualizations are often limited to two-dimensional representations of a simple network topology and often only visualize the current state of a simulation as it executes. As wireless network simulations increase in scale and complexity and as 3D space becomes more important in the contexts of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and low earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellations, the need for more advanced visualizations increases.
Goals of the thesis
This thesis will design and implement an interactive 3D visualization tool for wireless network simulations, which will be integrated into the Veins and INET frameworks for OMNeT++. It displays network nodes and their environment in 3D space, illustrates the current state of the simulation, and allows the user to fast-forward and rewind the simulation. A prototype of this tool along with assets has already been implemented and can (but need not) be used as a starting point for further development.
