The amount of in-car networks in modern cars which are using Ethernet is continuously increasing. The benefit of Ethernet, allowing the connection from everything with everything also introduces the problems of shared mediums. To solve this, multiple standards were created to allow reliable and deterministic network access, combined under the Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) group. Large parts of the literature only investigate one single feature in an isolated context.
Goals of the thesis
This thesis aims to explore the combination of Time-Aware Shaper (TAS) and Credit-Based Shaper (CBS) within Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) for automotive applications. This will be based on existing TSN implementations in INET for the intra car communication and Veins for the inter car communication. Based on the type of thesis, the requirements may be adjusted.
Requirements
- Experience with C++ and OMNeT++
